Planet of the Apes News - New Series Announcement!

Starting in September, Gabriel and I will be writing a new Planet of the Apes ongoing series for BOOM! Studios. The first arc is called "Cataclysm", and I promise that it will be full of epic ape action. We'll be jumping ahead seven years from the events currently taking place in "Exile", which still puts us several years before a man named Taylor shakes things up in the first film. That gives us a lot of canvas to play with, and we're going to start things off with a bang!

The art is being handled by the fabulous Damian Couceiro and we'll even have covers by Alex Ross! That's the first one, over on the left.

I'll have more to say about things as we get closer, but for now I'll leave you with the interview that Gabriel and I just did with Comic Book Resources. We're thrilled with this new gig, and hope that you'll check it out!

Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes - The Book!

Gabriel and I loved working on our first Planet of the Apes miniseries and couldn't be happier that it's going to be available as a trade paperback! If you'd like a copy, please pre-order it from your local comic shop this month using this Diamond code:

MAY120947

Or, you can pre-order it from Amazon here, and from Discount Comic Book Services here.

Inside, you'll find not only our story but all of the alternate covers  as well as an introduction by the amazing Ed Brubaker. Personally, I couldn't be happier with how this book turned out. I hope you enjoy it too!

Are You Ready for May 5th?

There's a ton of stuff happening tomorrow. It's Cinco de Mayo, of course, so watch out for those police checkpoints if you've been celebrating.

But it's also Free Comic Book Day, in case you like free things you can read as much as you like margaritas. Personally, I'll be marking the day in Pasadena at Collector's Paradise, along with Gabriel Hardman, Steve Niles, Shane Houghton, Chris Houghton, and Matt Whitlock. We'll be signing things, and there's a huge sale on too. Also featured: free comic books. Just in case there's any confusion on that score. You can read all about it in the flyer below.
Cinco de Mayo, Free Comic Book Day, isn't that enough to pack into one Saturday? Not quite. It's also  the biggest full moon of the year, along with a meteor shower. So don't forget to look up occasionally after the sun goes down. Or better yet, take your comics and your Dos Equis out on the porch after sunset. And have a great Saturday!
